Thank you William Blount, Richard Spaight and Hugh Williamson
Today we celebrate Constitution Day. And why do we need to give thanks to William Blount, Richard Dobbs Spaight and Hugh Williamson? Because they were three of the forty signers of the United States Constitution on September 17, 1787…all from the State of North Carolina!
Why do we have a day that commemorates the Constitution? Because back on September 17, 1787 forty of our Founding Fathers were brave enough to defend and support their beliefs in that our United States of America needed a supreme law. One which would guide our society in law and political culture. It has been referred to as one of the most important documents in our American history.
I encourage you to read the Constitution at least once…you would be amazed at how many Americans don’t even know what it says or what it gives us each and everyday we are citizens of this wonderful country!
